A Deep Breath at the Window to the World
Taco rice
Recently, I’ve been really into having taco rice for lunch.
Taco rice is a dish that originated in Okinawa, featuring taco ingredients from Mexican cuisine served on top of rice.
To my embarrassment, the only thing that immediately came to mind was that Mexico is a country near the United States. However, I later learned that it is a fascinating country where civilizations such as the Maya and Aztec once flourished, and where traditional events like the Day of the Dead are still celebrated.
Taco rice is a perfect example of how Mexican and Japanese food cultures come together.
The slightly spicy taco meat goes perfectly with rice, making it both flavorful and satisfying.
Whenever I eat it, I feel energized and ready to take on the rest of the day.
That’s exactly what I was thinking to myself during one lunch break:
“Let’s enjoy taco rice and do my best this afternoon, too.”
