ダイバーカフェで世界を味わうひととき
ダイバーシティ推進室では、菊池理事やコーヒー好きの職員が中心となって、お昼休みに「ダイバーカフェ」を開催しています。
このカフェは、ただの休憩時間ではありません。世界各国のコーヒー豆を味わいながら、その土地の文化や歴史に思いを馳せる、ちょっとした旅のような時間です。
コーヒーは、東南アジアからアフリカ、南米まで、さまざまな地域で育てられています。
その土地の気候や土壌、収穫時期、焙煎方法によって、香りや風味は驚くほど多様です。
「東ティモールってどこにあるんでしたっけ？」
「モカって、アフリカのとある港の名前らしいですよ！」
「コーヒーがとれる赤道近くの地域をコーヒーベルトと呼ぶらしいですよ。」
そんな会話が自然と生まれるのも、ダイバーカフェならでは。
コーヒーをきっかけに、普段は意識しない遠い国々のことを考える時間は、まさにダイバーシティの実践です。
ほんの少しの時間ですが、香り豊かな一杯のコーヒーが、世界への扉をそっと開いてくれます。

A Deep Breath at the Window to the World
A Taste of the World at Diversity Café
At the Office of Equality and Diversity, Executive Director Kikuchi and coffee lovers among the staff have come together to host a lunchtime event called “Diversity Café.”
But this café is more than just a break — it’s a brief journey around the world. As we savor coffee beans from different countries, we take a moment to reflect on the cultures and histories of the regions where they were grown.
Coffee is cultivated in a wide range of regions—from Southeast Asia to Africa and South America.
Its aroma and flavor vary greatly depending on the climate, soil, harvest season, and roasting method of each area.
“Where exactly is East Timor located?”
“I heard Mocha is actually the name of a port in Africa!”
“Apparently, the regions near the equator where coffee is grown are called the Coffee Belt.”
These kinds of conversations naturally arise at Diversity Café.
Through coffee, we find ourselves thinking about distant countries we don’t usually consider—an everyday practice of diversity in action.
Even in a short moment, a fragrant cup of coffee gently opens the door to the wider world.
