茨城大学は、文部科学省、茨城県、北茨城市等の多くの関係機関のご協力を頂きながら、六角堂等を復興したいと考えております。これまでに多くの方々から多額のご寄付を頂き、また、関係機関、関係者の方々の全面的な御協力のおかげで、平成24年4月17日、ついに六角堂再建工事が完了し、竣工式を迎える事ができました。ひとえに皆様の御支援があったからこそであり、皆様に心から御礼を申し上げます。しかし、五浦地区の天心邸なども多大な被害を受けています。また、日本美術院研究所の再建や復興の記録を後世に残すための記念館の建設も視野に入れていきたいと思います。さらに、これらの文化財の維持管理にも努力していく必要があります。そのため、「茨城大学の岡倉天心記念六角堂等復興基金」の募集を今しばらく継続していきたいと思います。
「五浦の六角堂」の復興は、「東日本大震災」の復興のシンボルになり得ると確信しております。これらの趣旨をご理解の上、本基金に多くの方々のご理解とご協力を頂けますよう、お願い申し上げます。

Dear Sirs and Madams,
On 17th April 2012, Ibaraki University held the completion ceremony of Rokkakudo at last, finished reconstructing the building destroyed by the huge earthquake and the tsunami on 11th March 2011. We appreciate very much for the supports from the Ministry of Education and Science, Ibaraki Prefecture, North Ibaraki city, Japan National Trust and those who donated for the reconstruction.
However, Tenshin Okakura's house and the other historical heritages at Izura district are still struggling to recover from the serious damages caused by the catastrophe. We are planning to reconstruct Nihon Bijyutsuin(Japan Art Institute) Memorial Park and to build the Memorial Hall to bequeath records of the catastrophe and the recovery from it. In addition, we must make efforts to the maintenance and management of the cultural assets of Tenshin Okakura Memorial Buildings. Therefore, we have decided to continue the Funds for Reconstructing Tenshin(Kakuzo) Okakura Memorial Buildings for some time in the future.
We are convinced that the restoration of Rokkakudo would be a symbol of revival from the catastrophe in 2011. We would be very grateful for your understanding and cooperation.
